Opening prayer

Opening routine...
Settling,
Calming
Inspiring...
Praying
The prayer of St. Francis of Assisi.

Hearing
A whisper...
A student telling another
"This prayer is my father's favorite."

Later...

Closing routine
Packing up,
Cleaning up,
Ready to clear out.
Student asks for paper.
"I want to write this down for my father."

"Make me an instrument of your peace...."

Our work as Catholic school educators
is more meaningful than we know.

Spiritual Health

Best Lent Ever...
Fasting...
Identified a habit...
Turning on the tv as I go to bed...
In its place...
Reading,
Listening,
Reflecting
To the words
Everybody Needs to Forgive Somebody,
A Purpose Driven Live.
Filling my heart
With the joyful music
And messages
Of Christian hymns.
Peacefully
Falling asleep,
Grateful for blessings bestowed.

Looking forward,
Looking ahead,
Making a plan
For spiritual growth
With its beginnings in
Fasting...
Best Lent Ever

So Much Depends

Getting ready to start celebrating National Poetry Month with fourth graders.  Starting with the book Love That Dog.  As I reread the book, I was inspired to compose my own version of The Red Wheelbarrown by William Carlos Williams.

So much depends upon
Kindness
A welcoming
Smile,
Encouraging
Words,
Thoughtful
Actions,
A gift of peace,
Love.

Writing Across the Curriculum

Find someone who...
Looking at the bingo card
Catching glimpses of myself
From the past
And the present.
Posts sitting in my draft
Waiting to be published.
Writing without publishing.

Done.

Reading, writing, reflecting

Reading about writing
leads me to stop reading,
temporarily.
Inspired
to capture
an aha from
a conversation swirling in my head
from yesterday.

Purposeful.
