"You don't always get a treat for behaving."
a small voice incredulously asked
"You don't?"
It was the sweetest moment to have witnessed
as the youngest was trying to negotiate
the home-school connection.
"You behave because it is the right thing to do."
"Ohhhh."
and as she exited the car,
she excitedly ran into school.
