Panera

In an unfamiliar town,
Where should I wait for
Two hours?

Found the Panera,
Perfect spot to wait,
And watch,
Do a bit of work,
And have something to eat and drink.

The watching is keeping me from my work.
Meetings being held,
Gatherings of friends,
The traffic can be distracting,
But also familiar.

And the familiarity reminds me
I have work to do.

  1. I love the simplicity of this poem, and also the circular nature of being distracted from your work and reminded of it all at once. Great poem.

  2. Familiar, yet distracting. Watching, but needing to work. The contrast in your poem makes it compelling. By the way, I love Panera! Jennifer Sniadecki
